How are the figures in this report calculated?
In this report, each market's return runs from the last value on 1405/06/31 to the last value on 1405/07/30, and the table gives both values of each market in its own unit. The previous-month column is that market's return in Shahrivar. Indices are in points, the dollar, coins, 18-karat gold and housing are in tomans, and the global gold ounce is in dollars.
The stock market indices come from the Tehran Securities Exchange Technology Management Co. website (TSETMC). The dollar, coins, 18-karat gold and the ounce are daily free-market prices, and Tehran housing comes from published monthly figures. Fixed-income funds are the median return of the funds, not a single fund. The Mehr inflation figure from the Statistical Centre of Iran had not been published when this report was prepared and is not in the table.
Industry returns come from Fundai's industry index, that is, the price change of each industry's companies weighted by their market value. Symbol returns come from closing prices on the exchange and are adjusted for capital increases and cash dividends. Funds, symbols on the red base market, and symbols that were not traded for more than thirty days at the start or end of the month are not in the symbol list.
This report sets the returns of two months, Mehr and Shahrivar, side by side. The data does not say why the markets moved, and a multi-month trend cannot be built from it.
